The 14-day cumulative infection rate per 100,000 inhabitants rose again from 222.2 Thursday to 238.4 Friday, taking morbidity deeper into the 'dark red' or 'very high' risk classification, the highest of the four alert categories under the 'traffic light' system.

Unfortunately, four more Covid-related deaths were also confirmed, all of persons aged from 70-89 years. The death toll since the start of the pandemic now stands at 2,602.
On September 9, a total of 2,357 people received a first vaccination dose and 2,111 received a second dose. In all, 783,376 people have now completed a course of vaccination.

If you have been fully vaccinated against Covid-19, or you have fully recovered from a confirmed case of it, you can obtain a digital certificate attesting to your status at the website https://covid19sertifikats.lv/.
Latvia is also part of the European Union's wider Covid-19 certification scheme.
All arrivals to the country (including returnees) need to fill in an electronic declaration prior to coming to Latvia. It is available at the website covidpass.lv.
