Around 400 children vaccinated against Covid-19 in Latvia

Take note – story published 2 years ago

Nearly 400 children aged 5 to 11 have received the vaccine against Covid-19 since last Thursday, Latvian Television reported December 22.

The amount of vaccines delivered allows at least three and four times the number of children to be vaccinated daily. Most children have been vaccinated in Riga, at the Children's Hospital. But hospital medics pointed out that it was too early to talk about any trends.

"The vaccination of small children began Thursday [December 16]]. Last week there were 50 a day, a total of 100, 80 applied to today, the interest is there, but these are the first, motivated ones. I will be prepared to comment later on the trends.

"But first of all, adults in the risk group should be vaccinated. Small children with oncology, diabetes, overweight, are those who must be vaccinated. The rest are in no hurry," said Renāte Snipe, chief medical officer of Children's Hospital.
