Children's vaccine interval shortened in Latvia

Take note – story published 2 years ago

The State Council for Immunization (IVP) recommends reducing the interval of the first and second Covid-19 vaccine in children from 5to 11 years old, LETA reported January 21.

The recommended vaccine interval so far was three months. It has now been reduced to six weeks.

“Since vaccination against Covid-19 started in the world, millions of children have been vaccinated - nearly ten million in the United States alone. Accordingly, there are far more safety data than there were at the time of registration of the vaccine,” head of IVP Dace Zavadska said.

“Three doses are still recommended for children with immunosuppression: the first dose, the second dose after three weeks and the third dose after four weeks, are recommended for the still immunosuppressant children,” said Zavadska.

Currently, 5,872 children aged 5 to 11 have been vaccinated against Covid-19, and 447 of them have completed the vaccination process.
