COVID-19 case total increases by seven in Latvia

Officials said Latvia had confirmed seven new cases of COVID-19 on August 15, the total number of cases since the start of the pandemic rising to 1,315 on Saturday.

No additional deaths were recorded, with the fatality toll remaining at 32.

The Disease Prevention and Control Center (SPKC) said 1,881 tests had been conducted during the previous 24-hour period. 

In total 224,412 tests have been carried out since February 29.

So far 1,078 patients have recovered from infection.

One patient has been hospitalized. Four patients are in hospital, all described as having moderate symptoms of the disease.



SPKC added that four of the newly infected patients had been in contact with a previously infected person. One is an arrival from Italy, one from France, one case is still being investigated.

The number for medical emergencies is 113, the number for enquiring about a COVID-19 test if you have developed some potential symptoms after returning from overseas or being in contact with someone confirmed as having coronavirus is 8303 and the SPKC COVID-19 advice helpline is 67387661.
