Covid case total rises by 143 on Tuesday in Latvia

On Tuesday, June 15, Latvia recorded 143 new cases of Covid-19 infection, according to the Disease Prevention and Control Center (SPKC).

The total number of cases detected since the start of the pandemic now stands at 136,247.  

Of 11,452 tests carried out in the past 24 hours, just 1.2% were positive.

The 14-day cumulative infection rate per 100,000 inhabitants continued its steady decline, from 153.4 Monday to 144.1 Tuesday.

Unfortunately, there were also eight more deaths from Covid-19 confirmed, with the youngest victim in the 40-49 year-old age bracket and the oldest aged 90-99 years. The death toll since the start of the pandemic now stands at 2,464.

Meanwhile in Estonia 61 new cases of coronavirus were confirmed Tuesday and in Lithuania the total was 129 cases.

Use of nose and mouth coverings, physical distancing and frequent hand washing and sanitary cleaning habits are encouraged.

If you have been fully vaccinated against Covid-19, or you have fully recovered from a confirmed case of it, you can obtain a digital certificate attesting to your status at the website Latvia is also part of the European Union's wider Covid-19 certification scheme.

All arrivals to the country (including returnees) need to fill in an electronic declaration prior to coming to Latvia. It is available at the website
