Last week, the number of newly identified cases of Covid-19 fell by 3% compared with the previous week. Last week, the fall was 36%, so the decline has slowed down significantly, according to the Disease Prevention and Control Center (SPKC) data published July 19.

On average, 7,234 tests were performed daily (the week before - 6,971 tests) and an average of 37 new cases of Covid-19 per day were detected (a week earlier – 38).

In the last seven days, an average of six patients per day were hospitalized (a week before – 7) and an average of 67 Covid-19 patients were treated daily in hospitals (the week before – 84). The incidence has decreased slightly in all age groups, however, there is a higher incidence among people aged 20-29.

The factor of reproduction of Covid-19 infection (R) is currently 1.0 (week before – 0.77), indicating that the spread of Covid-19 in Latvia is currently increasing.

The share of imported Covid-19 cases in Latvia has reached 21.1% in the previous week, with a total of 55 cases last week (the week before – 39 cases).
