Five Covid-related deaths in Latvia on Tuesday

The Disease Prevention and Control Center (SPKC) said on June 21 that 317 new cases of Covid-19 were confirmed during the previous 24 hours with five more Covid-related deaths recorded.

Of 2,747 tests carried out over the last day, 11.5% were positive. The 14-day cumulative incidence rate per 100,000 population rose from 146 Monday to 151 Tuesday.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, 832,485 Covid-19 cases have now been recorded among Latvia's 1.9 million population.

 

The total death toll since the beginning of the pandemic stands at 5,851. All five of the most recent victims were aged over 60 years.

Monday hospital data from the National Health Service (NVD) show 132 patients being treated in hospitals, 7 of whom are displaying serious symptoms.

A hotline – 8989 – allows people to both register for vaccination and receive answers to questions about the process of vaccination will continue to operate. The number for medical emergencies is 113.

If you have been fully vaccinated against Covid-19, or you have fully recovered from a confirmed case of it, you can obtain a digital certificate attesting to your status at the website https://covid19sertifikats.lv.

Latvia is also part of the European Union's wider Covid-19 certification scheme
