How much does Latvia spend on vaccine purchases?

The prices of vaccines against Covid-19 for which they are purchased by Latvia range from EUR 1.78 to EUR 26.21 per dose, according to a presentation prepared by the Ministry of Health to the Saeima Public Expenses and Audit Committee April 13.

Different manufacturers' vaccines are priced differently, depending on the time they were purchased.

Generally, the cheapest single dose is the vaccine produced by AstraZeneca, i.e. €1.78.

Next comes the vaccine produced by Johnson & Johnson, which costs €6.77 per dose. In addition, this is a vaccine that is intended to be administered only once.

The price of the vaccine produced by BioNtech/Pfizer ranges from €12 to €16 per dose.

But the most expensive of the vaccines against Covid-19 is the Moderna produced, which costs between €19.41 and €26.21 per dose.

The Ministry for Health also briefed on the prices of vaccines which have not yet been approved in the European Union. One dose of CureVac and Valneva would cost €10 and Novavax €13.31.

In total, 8.6 million doses of vaccines have been earmarked for Latvia, which would require more than €141 million.
