Vinkele said that in the summer, a survey of sites that could be adapted to a COVID-19 hospital in Rīga and outside, and Viesturs Tile, Chairman of the Board of Governors of the owner of the hall, offered the rooms if needed.
However, the Minister expressed her hope that it would not be necessary.
She also said that the state also had the necessary equipment to create bed sites for 200 COVID-19 patients in the adapted rooms. Preparations had been made in the summer, the necessities had been purchased, including beds.
As of November 4, there are 240 patients of COVID-19 in Latvia's hospitals.
