Of the total number of positive cases, 419 were unvaccinated persons, or persons not fully vaccinated, and 71 were fully vaccinated.
The total number of cases detected since the start of the pandemic now stands at 145,893.
Of 42,449 tests carried out in the past 24 hours, 1.2 % were positive.
The 14-day cumulative infection rate per 100,000 inhabitants rose from 204.2 Wednesday to 222.2 Thursday, taking morbidity further into the 'dark red' or 'very high' risk classification, the highest of the four alert categories under the 'traffic light' system.

Sadly, three more Covid-related deaths were also confirmed, all of persons aged 80-89 years. The death toll since the start of the pandemic stands at 2,598.
There are currently 214 patients receiving treatment for Covid-19 symptoms in Latvian hospitals. Of that number 28 are showing serious symptoms.

On September 8, a total of 2,660 people received a first vaccine dose and 3,011 received a second dose. In all, 780,514 people have completed a course of vaccination.
Meanwhile, in Estonia 467 new Covid cases were registered and in Lithuania 925 new cases were recorded.

All arrivals to the country (including returnees) need to fill in an electronic declaration prior to coming to Latvia. It is available at the website covidpass.lv.
