By November 20, local governments will provide free hygienic masks to their residents who have the status of needy or low-income persons, as well as to those who stay in shelters or attend day care centers, crisis centers or receive a home care service, the Welfare Ministry said November 10.

This is required by the COVID-19 Infection Control Act to allow all people to comply with mandatory use of face masks in many public places.

According to the information available in public databases, there are currently 25,017 persons officially registered as being in a state of poverty and 36,867 with the status of low-income persons. In turn, 6,864 people stay in night shelters or other shelters, 17,239 receive home care services and 22,267 residents receive services at day care centers or crisis centers.

The masks will be reusable in accordance with the specified care requirements.
