Monday's figure is usually the lowest of the week due to a reduced number of tests on Sundays.
Of the newly-confirmed cases, 1,318 cases were recorded in unvaccinated or not fully vaccinated people, while 2,298 were fully vaccinated.
Out of 7,649 tests carried out in the past 24 hours, 47.3% were positive. The 14-day cumulative incidence rate per 100,000 of the population dipped for the sixth day in a row from 6,913 Sunday to 6,885 Monday, reinforcing hopes that the peak of the infection wave has passed. Since the beginning of the pandemic 653,120 Covid-19 cases have now been recorded among Latvia's 1.9 million population.
