Last week, 9.1% of Covid-19 cases were repeat infections, according to information prepared by the Ministry of Health to the government meeting on February 1.

LETA reported, referring to the Disease Prevention and Control Center, that a re-infection occurs when the time interval between two positive Covid-19 tests is 60 days or less.

According to the Ministry's data, such cases were 3.4% of all in the last week of December 2021. This year, the figure has continued to grow, reaching 5.6% of all detected cases in the first week of the year and 7.1% in the second. Last week there were a total of 4,862 re-infection cases of Covid-19, or 9.1% of the total.

“In the number of people who had been infected by Covid-19, virtually every tenth had been infected before. It is the peculiarity of the Omicron that it is able to re-infect people who have previously recovered,” explained the minister.
