One in five adults have had the first Covid jab in Latvia

311,220 people or 20.4% of the adult population of Latvia have received a Covid-19 vaccine, the Ministry of Health said May 9.

Of that number 232,730 people have got one jab and 78,500 people have completed the vaccination cycle.

The population is most active with jabs in Kurzeme, where 23.7% of the adult population have received the vaccine, while fewer people have been vaccinated in Latgale -- 10.7% of the adult population.

In Rīga and Vidzeme, 22.7% of the adult population received at least one vaccine, while the figure is 16.8% in Zemgale.

In the population over 60 years of age, 39% or 206,209 inhabitants received at least one vaccine. 40% or 67,120 chronic illness patients and 39% or 19,744 employees of educational establishments have received the vaccine.

The Ministry of Health recalls that vaccination is continuing throughout Latvia, and now any adult resident of Latvia can apply for a vaccine by selecting a specific vaccination place and time at the site manavakcina.lv or by phone: 8989.
