Over 3,000 Covid-19 cases Saturday in Latvia

On January 15, 2022, Latvia recorded 3,065 new Covid-19 cases, according to the latest figures from the Disease Prevention and Control Center (SPKC). The last time the single-day case count was over 3,000 was October 27, 2021.

Of that total, 1,370 were unvaccinated persons, or persons not fully vaccinated, and 1,695 were fully vaccinated. The total number of cases detected since the start of the pandemic now stands at 301,654.

 

Of 21,269 tests carried out in the past 24 hours, 14.4% were positive. The 14-day cumulative morbidity rate per 100,000 population jumped from 1157.5 Friday to 1310.6 Saturday. 

Sadly, 14 more Covid-related deaths were also confirmed. All victims were aged 60 or over and four were fully vaccinated. The total death toll since the start of the pandemic now stands at 4,726.

Saturday data from the National Health Service show 581 patients being treated in hospital with 85 patients admitted and 78 discharged during the last 24 hours. 83 patients are displaying serious symptoms.

 

In the other Baltic states, Estonia had 264 hospitalized patients, 2,220 new cases and 6 deaths confirmed during the last 24 hours while Lithuania had nearly 4,000 cases and 18 deaths.

If you have been fully vaccinated against Covid-19, or you have fully recovered from a confirmed case of it, you can obtain a digital certificate attesting to your status at the website https://covid19sertifikats.lv.

Latvia is also part of the European Union's wider Covid-19 certification scheme. All arrivals to the country (including returnees) need to fill in an electronic declaration prior to coming to Latvia. It is available at the website covidpass.lv
