Latvia has taken delivery of another batch of Covid-19 vaccines manufactured by Pfizer/BioNTech, the Health Ministry confirmed April 12.

All 11,700 of the latest doses of Pfizer vaccine received will be diverted to vaccination for existing priority groups, both as the first and second doses. That includes seniors over 60 years of age, people with chronic health conditions, people caring for chronically ill children and children with immuno-suppression conditions, people caring for seriously ill people at home, health care workers, and long-term social care center staff.

From Monday, April 12, vaccination will be gradually started for employees of educational institutions . The vaccine against Covid-19 will first be given to pre-school, special school and class teachers and staff who come into close contact with children in the course of their duties, as well as teachers who have resumed full-time work.
