Of just 1,674 tests carried out in the past 24 hours, 10% were positive. The 14-day cumulative morbidity rate per 100,000 population dropped from 574 Friday to 534.8 Saturday.
Sadly, seven more Covid-related deaths were also confirmed. All of the fatalities were aged 60 years or over and three of them were fully vaccinated. The total death toll since the start of the pandemic now stands at 4,577.
Saturday data from the National Health Service show 446 patients being treated in hospital with 71 displaying serious symptoms.
In the other Baltic states, Estonia reported 717 cases and no deaths while in Lithuania there were nearly 2,000 cases and 12 deaths.

If you have been fully vaccinated against Covid-19, or you have fully recovered from a confirmed case of it, you can obtain a digital certificate attesting to your status at the website https://covid19sertifikats.lv.
Latvia is also part of the European Union's wider Covid-19 certification scheme. All arrivals to the country (including returnees) need to fill in an electronic declaration prior to coming to Latvia. It is available at the website covidpass.lv.
