Two Covid deaths, 417 cases over weekend in Latvia

The Disease Prevention and Control Center (SPKC) said on June 13 that 417 new cases of Covid-19 were confirmed during the weekend with two Covid-related deaths recorded.

Of 4,714 tests carried out over the last three days, 8.8% were positive. The 14-day cumulative incidence rate per 100,000 population rose from 116 Friday to 121 Monday.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, 830,698 Covid-19 cases have now been recorded among Latvia's 1.9 million population.

The total death toll since the beginning of the pandemic stands at 5,839. The two latest victims were both aged 80 to 89 years. 

Friday hospital data from the National Health Service (NVD) show 103 patients being treated in hospitals, 8 of whom are displaying serious Covid symptoms.

A hotline – 8989 – allows people to both register for vaccination and receive answers to questions about the process of vaccination will continue to operate. The number for medical emergencies is 113.

If you have been fully vaccinated against Covid-19, or you have fully recovered from a confirmed case of it, you can obtain a digital certificate attesting to your status at the website https://covid19sertifikats.lv.

Latvia is also part of the European Union's wider Covid-19 certification scheme
