Week begins with nine Covid-19 deaths in Latvia

On March 7, 2022, Latvia recorded 2,594 new cases of Covid-19, according to the latest figures from the Disease Prevention and Control Center (SPKC). Mondays usually show the lowest figures in the week. 

Of the newly-confirmed cases, 844 cases were recorded in unvaccinated or not fully vaccinated people, while 1,750 were fully vaccinated.

Out of 5,872 tests carried out in the past 24 hours, 44.2% were positive. The 14-day cumulative incidence rate per 100,000 of the population dipped from 6105.8 Sunday to 6041.1 Monday. Since the beginning of the pandemic 704,134 Covid-19 cases have now been recorded among Latvia's 1.9 million population.

 

Nine more Covid-related deaths were confirmed. All victims were aged 50 years or older. Two of the dead were fully vaccinated. The total death toll since the beginning of the pandemic stands at 5,345.

Monday hospital data from the National Health Service show 1,191 patients being treated in hospitals (up on Sunday's 1,107). 121 patients were admitted and 16 were discharged during the previous 24 hours. 46 patients were displaying serious symptoms.

If you have been fully vaccinated against Covid-19, or you have fully recovered from a confirmed case of it, you can obtain a digital certificate attesting to your status at the website https://covid19sertifikats.lv.
