Weekly Covid numbers dropped across Latvia last week

Over the past week, the number of inhabitants infected with Covid-19 has decreased in all Latvian municipalities, according to LETA estimates of April 11 derived from the data from the Disease Prevention and Control Center (SPKC).

The biggest drop has been in the county of Valka. On Sunday, there were 58 residents infected with Covid-19 in the past 14 days, 60.3% less than the previous Sunday.

The number of people infected in major cities has fallen most rapidly in Rēzekne, with a drop of 49%, and Liepāja with 48.5%. In Rīga, the number of infected people has decreased by 45% during the week. 

The most affected are currently the age group between 50 and 59 years. In this age group, 2,875 residents of Latvia have become infected in the last 14 days. In the age group from 30 to 39 years, 2,862 people have got ill with Covid-19 in the past two weeks.

Meanwhile, the lowest level of infection is currently among children under nine years of age: 1,158.
