Latvian highest state decorations awarded

Latvia's highest state awards – the Order of the Three Stars, the Order of Viesturs and the Cross of Recognition – have been awarded to 31 people, according to the information on the website of the State Chancellery of the President.

The highest Latvian State awards are received by people who have served the Latvian State and people, whose dedicated professional and social work and civil performance have contributed to Latvia's growth.

"These are brilliant teachers and scientists, cultural staff, strengtheners of the Song and Dance Celebration tradition. These are medics who take long and self-effacing care of public health. Soldiers and national guards of the national Armed Forces, State Police officials, and State border guards who strengthen the security of our state and our common defense capabilities and guard the State border.

"These are communities of historical memory and cultural heritage, social workers who have devoted their work to the patriotic upbringing of young people and the consolidation of civic values, as well as selfless donors to Ukraine, its soldiers and civilians,” the statement said.

The award ceremony will take place on November 18 in Rīga Castle.
