The State Police has found the infant announced missing two days ago without signs of life, police said on November 3.

On November 1, the police announced a search for Anna Jansone, born in 1989, and her daughter Luīze Evertovska, born in 2023.

Police found that on Tuesday at 9:20 the mother and daughter had left their home in a rental car.

On Wednesday at around 11 police found the rental Toyota Corolla in a forest in Jelgava municipality, Valgunde parish. Inside it was the dead Luīze. A criminal case has been launched during which the exact circumstances of the event will be clarified.

The baby's mother has still not been found. Police are using K9 units, human forces and technical equipment.

Later on Friday, Anna's husband Juris Evertovskis told Latvian Television that Anna had been suffering from postnatal depression. Juris had discovered Anna and Luīze missing on the evening of November 1. He had hoped she'd gone to the kindergarten to pick up the eldest daughter, but found it wasn't true and her phone had been off.

"Two hours had passed since I found she was missing. I could quickly convince [the police] that this is to be taken seriously, and they came," said Juris.

It was especially alarming since Anna had postnatal depression and had attempted to commit suicide in September, after which she'd received treatment at the hospital.

Juris said he had figured out his wife had taken a Bolt rental car. She had been viewing Jelgava municipality map in the morning. Juris asked the police to go there but had received a response they would not be searching during the night, so he went alone.

"What else was I to do? I searched those roads, found nothing. A lot of forest trails there.  I drove into all of them, the correct one too..." said Juris. He hadn't reached the car due to the bad state of the road.

The police said that search efforts had started immediately, but first they had searched the vicinity of the house. On the morning of November 2 they asked Bolt for information on the car's location, and found it later. The dead infant had no obvious bodily harm.

Anna Jansone was wearing a grey coat, black jeans and black boots on the day of her disappearance. Police ask the public to look at the photo provided and call 110 with any information.
