Farmers' protests were overall calm, say police

The farmers' protest passed peacefully in general, with no significant incidents. The police have so far started 25 administrative infringement proceedings for various violations, the State Police said February 5.

12 of the administrative infringement proceedings initiated concern unpurchased compulsory civil insurance for vehicles, as well as three administrative infringement proceedings have been initiated for driving without roadworthiness testing.

Five offenses related to the operation of unmanned aircraft have also been identified.

As reported, on February 5, Latvian farmers held protests in sixteen cities. Around 2,000 farmers with heavy machinery have been reported to have participated.
