The Watex mobile purification station which will be sent to Ukraine, purifies water from both chemical and microbiological pollutants – up to 99,5%. The total volume of water that can be incorporated into the installation is 5,000 liters and is capable of cleaning 2,000 liters per hour.
The head of Watex, Oskars Čodors said: “It is important to note that chemically contaminated water cannot be cleaned by simply boiling it up – for example, heavy metals and pesticides will remain in it. In turn, this new purification station completely eliminates this kind of pollution.”
The project was financed in full by the Riga City Council, with total costs amounting to approximately EUR 49 thousand, Čodors said. On the other hand, Reno Briņķis, a member of the Society "Tev" said the charity portal “Ziedot.lv” was now launching a collection of donations for another station like this.
The Ukraine ambassador to Latvia Anatoly Kucelov said: "I am very happy we have such a purification system which will be useful in Kherson city and Kherson county, and they can further figure out where the purified water is most needed, and move the station."
