€1.34m left over from the Expo fiasco given to space research

Latvia will allot €1.34m to its participation in the European Space from the funds that were to be used for Latvia's participation in the Expo Milano 2015. It was confirmed on September 3 by the Saeima.

MPs agreed to transfer €1.343m, which was previously earmarked for use for Expo Milano 2015, to the Education Ministry to cover Latvia's participatory costs in the European Space agency in 2016.

74 MPs voted for the initiative, while six from the Regional Alliance voted against, and six of Latvia from the Heart abstained.

Latvia's participation in the Expo 2015 was pulled out after months of swinging back and forth due to organizational and tendering delays as well as fears of costs spiraling out of control.
