From July 1 to July 15, the State Police (VP) went on 990 control raids and made 5,412 calls to check up on people in self-isolation due to COVID-19, police said July 16.

The police have been assigned control of self-isolation, quarantine and assembly. Lauris Arājs, vice-chair of VP, said in most cases, phone and video calls are made.

As of July 1, 17 infringements have been identified for failure to comply with self-containment.

Arājs said that the majority of society is understanding and respects the limits. “Only together can we make it a safe country," he added.
