Beauty specialists protest against restrictions in Latvia

Due to the state of emergency announced in Latvia, beauty services, piercing and tattooing are prohibited, so manicure and pedicure technicians are protesting by the Saeima, Latvian Television reported November 23. 

Nail technicians have requested that prohibitions be lifted so that they can resume their work.

Manicure and pedicure masters hope to prove that it is possible to provide a safe environment for both the customer and the master. The picket organizer Anastasija Rozonova pointed out that beauty experts have all the necessary means and skills to comply with national epidemiological security measures during the procedure.

The organizer also stressed that industry employees did not have information on any identified COVID-19 infection  among employees or customers that would have been caused by visiting beauty salons.

LSM reported earlier that many beauty salons have resorted to illegal business due to the state of emergency and the prohibitions introduced.
