Chances to find out about naturalization process for Latvian citizenship

Anyone interested in the possibility of acquiring Latvian citizenship via the naturalization route has an opportunity to find out about the process at a series of information days being run by the Office for Citizenship and Migration Affairs (PMLP).

The PMLP regularly organizes information days, which provide potential applicants with information on the naturalization and citizenship process, as well as the opportunity to check their readiness for examinations by performing similar tests and to get acquainted with the procedure in general.

There will be opportunities to experience the Latvian language proficiency test procedure specified in the Citizenship Law - to perform samples of listening, reading test and written work, as well as to test oral abilities in order to gauge readiness for the real exams. part tasks. There will also be a sample version of the history and constitution test.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, attendees must book an appointment in advance -- they cannot simply turn up on the day. Use of a mouth and nose cover is also obligatory.

The next information days will take place in Rīga on October 27, November 12 and November 26. In Liepāja an information day will take place on November 6 and in Ventspils on November 3.

In total 147,732 persons have been admitted to Latvian citizenship by naturalization since 1995. In 2019, 808 persons did so and up until the end of September in 2020, 564 persons have completed the naturalization process.
