Free Latvian language classes offered to Rīga residents

Take note – story published 3 years ago

Residents of the Latvian capital will be able to apply for free online Latvian language courses from January 11, according to information from Rīga City council.

From Monday, January 11, the Education, Culture and Sports Departments of Riga City Council invites residents of Riga to apply for free distance-learning courses at www.integracija.riga.lv.

Such courses have been provided since 2010 and are usually over-subscribed, so an early application is advised. So far the courses, which usually take place in more conventional form, have been attended by more than 14,000 people.

In response to comments from readers, it should be pointed out that while most classes are geared toward Russian speakers, there are four language centers that can provide Latvian language courses with English as the intermediary language under condition that there are at least 8 persons who can form a group.
