Latvians of all ages used the Internet more last year

In Latvia last year, the average user browsed the Internet for an average of 27 hours per month, according to information published January 19 by the international Internet research and technology company Gemius.

On average last year users spent five hours browsing the Internet from mobile devices per month and 28 hours from computers. These figures reached the highest points in March and November.

One user browsed the Internet for an average of 25 hours in February from all devices together, but the figure reached 33 in March and 32 hours in April. In mid-March, for the first time, an emergency was announced in Latvia to reduce the distribution of Covid-19 and various restrictions were introduced.

In August, average time on the Internet from computers declined to 20 hours, in November it reached 38 hours. At the beginning of November, an emergency situation was re-announced in Latvia and a number of restrictions were imposed.

In 2020, the average number of Internet users in Latvia from all devices together – computers, mobile phones and tablets – was 1.4 million.

Trends in the number of Internet users also show that, in all age groups, the Internet has been used more on mobile phones over the last year.
