Normunds Kindzulis had been working for the emergency medical team since 2015, after graduating as a medical assistant from the Red Cross College of Riga Stradiņš University.

“Normunds has always been responsive and helpful, never spared himself at work, worked a lot and, no matter how many calls, never complained about the enormous workload. Normunds' work capabilities were amazingly huge. Normunds was very strong and excellent in medicine,” Ciekurs's post says.

Initially reported as a possible homophobic hate crime, LTV reported April 27 that the deceased had a history of mental illness involving some previous incidents with fires. The full circumstances are still being investigated by police.

Our condolences go to everyone affected by Normunds' passing.
