Non-existent university continues to make headlines one year on

Take note – story published 6 years and 6 months ago

A Latvian university  is continuing to have its groundbreaking research reported by international news portals, a year after LSM pointed out that it doesn't actually exist.

Male lifestyle portal Lad Bible reported March 25 that drinking gin can be good for you, citing research by the University of Sigulda. The story has so far been shared 22,000 times. Coincidentally, the site also features what reads like promotional copy for a well known brand of gin.

As we have repeatedly pointed out, there is no University of Sigulda, no research, no drunken mice and no researcher named "Thisa Lye".

You can revisit our debunking story HERE which traces the whole thing to an April Fool story in a women's magazine.
