Accommodation through the municipal civil protection commissions has been provided to 12,640 persons. This means that the rest of the refugees have found a place of residence themselves or live with friends and relatives, said the ministry.
Among refugees, 46% are women, 22% are men, while 32% are children, mostly two to 17 years old.
Ukrainian citizens who have biometric passports and do not need social assistance or assistance with accommodation are allowed to stay in Latvia for up to 90 days during the year without informing the national authorities.
