The National Armed Forces (NBS) reported the year's first monitoring of Russian naval vessels near Latvia's maritime border in the Baltic Sea Friday, a Finik-class hydrographic research ship and submarine spotted in Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) waters 10 nautical miles (18 kilometers) from the national territory.
