On Friday, November 6, around 40 people gathered outside the government building in Rīga to protest against the introduction of state of emergency, LETA reported.

The picket was organized by the Association Tautas labklājībai.lv (For People's Welfare). Participants had posters and signs “No to Emergency”, “Emergency or Coup?”, “Policed state - No!”. They said that they do not see any sense in the announcement of state of emergency, because it has been delayed for too long.

Protesters behaved quietly, just standing outside the government building. Some had face masks, but most didn't. Not all of them observed a two-meter distance.

Several police officers supervised the protest.

On November 6, the government plans to decide on state of emergency in Latvia starting Monday.
