As of March 1, hairdressers, manicurists, pedicurists and podologists will be allowed to resume their work. Requirements for safe work have been specified. These regulations prescribe organization of the flow of visitors, regular ventilation of the premises, measuring temperature of the customers, observing for distance, the use of information materials and personal protective equipment.
Both the Consumer Rights Protection Centre and the State Police will control compliance with safety measures.
Deputy Chief of State Police Normunds Krapsis told Latvian Radio that there are sufficient resources available for police inspections.
"It is not the goal to impose penalties on the first few days. It is logical that, as we do now, we will also carry out preventive discussions. And if the salon in question has failed to fully meet the requirements, it is likely that we will alert them that if these requirements are not met in the future, administrative penalties may be imposed.
"The controls will be organized in such a way that the beauty sector can be monitored to a sufficient extent, although people realize that the requirements are really in order to improve the epidemiological situation and reduce infection rates," Krapsis said.
