The sighting happened about 14 nautical miles off of Latvia's Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) waters.
This particular type of ship appeared also on two separate occasions during the month of September. On September 4 it was seen together with its accompanying Kilo-class submarine.
LVA Armed Forces on 6 OCT in LVA EEZ 14,1 nm from territ. waters spotted RU Navy's submarine support ship CC-750.

Later Monday afternoon, the NBS tweeted another sighting as follows, prompting an added update to the above headline from overnight:
LVA Armed Forces on 6 OCT in LVA EEZ 14,4 nm from territ. waters spotted RU Navy's Steregushiy-class fregate, 30 nm - Kilo-class submarine.

This apparently brings the total number of sightings of Russian navy vessels near Latvia's maritime jurisdictions to three in just one day, the first day of business as usual after the nation's parliamentary election results were taking shape.
