Take note – story published 8 years ago

Specialists are sure to get their hands dirty looking into the chemical and biophysical properties of therapeutic mud by the Ķemeri sanatorium as a project is underway dedicated to the research, use and preservation of the sticky stuff, reported BNS Tuesday.

The project, titled Healing Mud Deposits, Potential Uses and Possibilities of Regeneration, will research the properties of therapeutic mud as well as potential uses and development prospects of the current peat fields.

Particular attention will be paid to the potential renewal of mud, as the future of using this valuable therapeutic resource depends on it, according to Nature Conservation Agency spokeswoman Agnese Balandiņa.

The research will be carried out by Geo Consultants company and is to be concluded by mid-2016.
