Sevastova through to quarterfinals of Moscow WTA

Latvia's top-ranked lady tennis player Anastasija Sevastova on October 17 defeated Kazakhstan's Yulia Putintseva 7-5, 4-6, 6-4 in the second round of the Moscow WTA Premier series tournament.

At the moment Sevastova is ranked 11th in the WTA rankings, while Putintseva is ranked 48th.

Sevastova has earned 100 WTA rankings points for advancing to the quarterfinals of the Kremlin Cup, where she will take on Russia's Vera Zvonareva (WTA 161st), who stunned the Czech Republic's Karolina Pliskova (WTA 5th) in the tournament's second round.
