The two State Police officers were taken into custody following a Riga District Court decision. The other persons involved in the case have been released under police supervision.

The bureau said it has detained all the parties involved in the scheme - both those who gave and those who took the bribes. As of now the pre-court investigation is still ongoing.

The Internal Security Bureau was inaugurated on November 1 this year. The bureau is responsible to the interior minister.

It is tasked is to uncover, investigate, and prevent criminal activities involving officials and employees from institutions that work under the Interior Ministry, except the Security Police's officials. About 20,000 internal security workers are under the bureau's supervision.
