Latvia saw relatively cold November

Last month's average air temperature in Latvia was +1.7 C, which is 0.5 C below the climate norm, according to information compiled by the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Center.

November this year was the coolest since 2016, when the average monthly air temperature was just +0.8 C.

The lowest air temperature was -15.1 C on November 29 in Madona, while the highest air temperature was +13.8 C on the first day of the month in Rēzekne.

Air temperatures remained above the climate norm until mid-November, but were below the norm in the second half of the month.

The average precipitation in Latvia in November was 69.5 millimetres or 117% of the monthly norm.

At the end of the month, in many parts of the country's eastern and central areas, snow layer exceeded 25 centimeters, reaching 30 centimeters in the southeast.

The fall of tree leaves was very late this year, with places continuing until mid-November.
