During the Midsummer holiday in Latvia, the heat will subside and no rain is expected, according to forecasts.

Rain and storm clouds will cross Latvia on Thursday. In the morning and during the day, rain and thunderstorms are expected, rains in Vidzeme and Latgale are likely to be heavy, possibly with local flooding. Hail is also expected in places.

The Midsummer festival, June 23 and 24, is not expected to have significant rainfall, although some sprinkle might affect the south of Latvia. During the holidays, the maximum air temperature will be +22 C to +27 C, slightly cooler in the west of Kurzeme and Vidzeme, particularly cooler around Liepāja and Pāvilosta where the temperature will reach only +16 to +18 C.

Minimum air temperatures on Midsummer night will be +11 C to +16 C.

Throughout Latvia, even where it has rained, there is still drought in the forests, and throughout the country, the fire hazard is very high so authorities call on the public to be especially careful.

Water temperatures in major rivers and lakes are mostly +18 to +23 C, at certain stages of Daugava and Lielupe in the afternoons and evenings, even around 25 degrees.
