Nobody was injured in the collapse, and no other rink structures suffered.
It was planned to open the rink on Saturday already, but then the opening was postponed, according to Olympic Center's Board member Vladimirs Šteinbergs. There was a layer of snow about half a meter thick on the roof.
“Wanted to clean the snow off the roof around 9, but about an hour before, the construction of the tent, made of plastic, did not withstand the weight of the snow,” said Šteinbergs.
