Heat to persist all week in Latvia

Heat in most of Latvia will continue until at least Saturday, according to the latest forecasts by LSM's weatherman Toms Bricis.

Air temperatures will reach +27 C to +32 C in the afternoons all week until Saturday, slightly cooler on the coast in Kurzeme. Nights will also be warm, at +16 C to +21 C.

There will also be local rain and storms every day in Latvia, but they will affect a very small part of the country, so the drought will continue. The weather is likely to change Sunday, when more storm clouds will move across Latvia and air temperatures could begin to fall.

Alerts on increased fire risks and orange alert for heat are in effect.  In the middle of the day, there is also a high intensity of solar ultraviolet radiation.
