Take note – story published 3 years ago

Heavy snowfall is expected over the weekend, according to forecasts by LSM's weatherman Toms Bricis.

Snow clouds will form above the Baltic Sea and the Gulf of Riga, which will reach the north of Kurzeme and the west and south of Vidzeme with strong snow in these regions. Between Friday evening and Sunday afternoon, a layer of snow of 15-20 centimeters will fall, locally even more is likely.

A heavy snowfall is also expected in Riga.

The air temperature will be mostly 0 to 5 degrees Celsius night and day, but in some places, as the sky is cleared, may fall to -6 to 8 degrees Celsius at night.

At the beginning of next week, the temperature will fall a little further, but in the second half of the week a cold wave is possible in Latvia, when the temperature in some places may fall below the -20 degree mark.
