Rainy, snowy weekend ahead

While the next few days are expected to be rainy, a cyclone from Greenland is to cross the Baltic by next week, bringing strong winds together with cold weather and snow, according to forecasts, reported LSM's Toms Bricis.

Friday will still be sunny in places but a warm weather system is to cross Latvia on the night to Saturday, with clouds, rain and wet snow expected in the country.

On Saturday temperatures will rise to +5..+9C with rain expected especially on the second half of the week.

The night to Sunday will gradually become colder with rain turning into wet snow across the country and snowstorms to take place across the country.

Winds of 13 to 18 m/s are expected across the country and 20-22 m/s in coastal Kurzeme. 

A blanket of snow of 10 cm and more is forecast to fall in the area near the capital on the night to Monday, and drivers are advised to be careful on Monday morning with bad driving conditions expected near Rīga.
