September 19 hottest on record

On September 19 temperatures of +27 to +28C were recorded in Zemgale and Rīga, surpassing the previous heat record, set on September 19, 1975, according to data by Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre.

Temperatures of +22..+26C are seen across the country while the coastal regions are at a cooler +19..+21C.

It is expected that the national heat record for September 20 will also be broken, from 1937's +24.2C recorded in Rīga.
