Thaw expected on New Year's Eve in Latvia

There will still be some snowfall on Monday afternoon and evening in the east of Latvia, but snowing will stop over the next few days, according to forecasts by LSM's weatherman Toms Bricis.

On Tuesday and Wednesday, the sun will shine during the day. Air temperatures will fall to between -4 C and -9 C at night, but in the daytime temperatures will range between -2 C and -7 C, colder in the east.

On Thursday it will get warmer. Snowfall is expected, also sleet in the evening.

On New Year's Eve and on January 1 there will be a thaw and rain with air temperatures ranging from +1 C in the east of the country to +7 C in the west.

Further forecasts suggest that temperatures will fluctuate around zero in the first days of the new year.
