White Christmas across most of Latvia

Take note – story published 2 years ago

On Friday, December 24, snowfall is expected throughout Latvia, with the layer of snow increasing by up to 10 centimeters by Christmas Eve, according to forecasts of the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre.

The sky will be overcast and snow will be expected throughout the country, and in some areas snowing will be prolonged and the thickness of the snow covers will increase by 5-8 centimeters. Visibility will be poor and roads will be slippery.

A glance out of the window Friday morning confirms it is indeed snowing, so Bing Crosby looks to have got his wish again.

In the afternoon, the sky will gradually clear from the west.

The maximum air temperature is expected to be -1 C to -5 C, but in the western part of Kurzeme, mainly on the coast, will be slightly warmer at 0 C to +2 C.

The weather conditions will be similar on Saturday and Sunday, with snowfall possible in the mornings and nights and temperatures in the afternoons ranging from +1 in Kurzeme to -7 in Latgale.
