Aminata wows crowd at Eurovision dress rehearsal

Aminata Savadogo earned cheers from the crowd inside the Wiener Stadthalle Wednesday evening with her last dress rehearsal before Thursday night’s 2nd Semi-Final of the Eurovision Song Contest, the LTV delegation reported from Vienna.

This was an important moment for her, as the jury’s evaluation of the dress rehearsal also counts for half of each contestant’s point score, in addition to viewer votes to be tallied at the close of the Semi-Final.

Delegation head Zita Kaminska told LTV morning news program Rīta panorama that they had let the artist get her beauty sleep to gear up for tonight’s rehearsal, which seems to have paid off. She had spent her seventh day in Vienna touring the town and relaxing with her delegation mates before going to the Wiener Volksoper to see Puccini's La Boheme while her rivals from the 1st Semi-Final competed against each other Tuesday night.

“We’ve received so many positive comments and responses from professional people, that the song is strong, the performance is strong, the show is strong,” said Kaminska, adding that the competition in the 2nd Semi-Final is much heavier than last night’s 1st Semi-Final.

Though prognoses rarely turn out exactly as called, the Latvian delegation expects Aminata to reach 6th place, Kaminska said.

Even the bookmakers are predicting high marks for Latvia this year.

The 2nd Semi-Final will be broadcast live on LTV’s Channel 1, as well as streamed live on the LTV homepage, while the Final on May 23 will also be shown on LTV’s Channel 7.
